Along from the misty quay, away from watching eyes, men struggle with stolen goods and smuggled wares. In a building made from buccaneers timbers, the very structure echoes of the sea that once did run under the keels of vessels that now stand still, drydocked and cast in stone walls. Higher Market Street, East Looe boasts many rumours and much intrigue, from the timber salvaged for its construction to its hidden smugglers passage used many years ago by wayward types from another age to store their secrets.
 
Even now if you were to venture through streets of Looe and were to stand in the shadow of this historic building, on the right sort of day (most days 12-5ish), there you will find - The Arts Hole - Art Gallery and Design studios. The nature of this phenomenon is a mystery...as in the evenings and on a Sunday lunch time, this venue is, and has always been, a very popular restuarant. Only on the right sort of day can a glimpse of a quite extraordinary gallery be seen.
 
The resident artist, a creature of mythological qualities, a wizened old philosopher in the body of a whippersnapper will conjure all manner of creative principles spontaneously, and upon request, from a well of artistic magic.
 
Every evening as the sun sets and the lights of the restuarant come to life, this elusive creature and his wares vanish...as mysteriously as they appeared.
